What You Will Need
A black candle
A taper. Lit at the start, snuffed at the end, and watched in between - the shadows moving on the wall are part of what this working runs on.
A sheet of paper and a black pen
For the person's full name, written once, in your own hand.
A dim room in the quietest part of the night
This is the real ingredient. The working is built for one in the morning and does not translate to the afternoon.
Moon Phase & Timing
Worked by the clock rather than by the calendar.
The small hours: The quietest part of the night, whenever that is in your house. The whole working is a whisper and it needs somewhere quiet enough for a whisper to count.
Waning Moon: A good addition if you have the choice, but not required.
Monday: The Moon's own day, which suits a working of wandering paths and uncertain steps.
