The Letter Never Sent

For words you have not said to somebody who is still alive and still reachable: a letter written in full, read aloud once to a candle, then sealed and kept for a lunar month. At the end of the month you do one of three things with it, and the working is really the month of knowing it is in the drawer.
What You Will Need
Paper you have to write on by hand
A sheet of real paper and a pen. Not a phone, not a draft email, not a note app. The slowness of handwriting is doing half the work here, and a letter you can send with one thumb is not this working.
An envelope you can seal
Addressed to them, even though it is not going anywhere yet. Writing the address is part of it.
A white candle and a pink or red one
White for the truth of it and pink or red for the affection underneath, whatever shape that affection is - a parent, a friend, a sibling, an ex, someone you never told. Two tea lights will do.
Something of theirs, or something from when
A photograph, a ticket stub, a book they lent you, a note in their handwriting. It sits beside the candles while you write. If you have nothing, write their full name on a separate slip and use that.
Dried rose petals or dried lavender
A pinch, to go into the envelope with the letter. Rose for what is said plainly, lavender for being able to put it down afterwards.
A drawer that closes
Somewhere the envelope will be out of sight but not out of mind for a month. Not a shoebox in a loft, and not a bedside table where you will see it every night.
Moon Phase & Timing
This working is one lunar month long by design, and the month is not a waiting period - it is the spell.
Full Moon: The night to write. Everything is lit and nothing is hidden, which is the state the letter is written in.
The following Full Moon: The night to open the drawer and decide. A month is long enough that you will not feel the same way, and that difference is the information you came for.
Waning Moon: An alternative night to write, if what you have to say is about something ending. The month still runs from whenever you start.
