The Nightly Cup of Renewal
Join the Coven to keep this in your own Book of Shadows
A short rite for the end of the day: a cup of dark grape juice poured out as a libation, and warm jojoba oil worked into the face, neck and hands as a deliberate act of care. Repeatable nightly, and nothing in it is ever taken into the body.
What You Will Need
A small glass of dark grape juice or red wine
Held up during the first verse and then poured out at the end as a libation - onto bare earth, into a plant pot, or down the drain if neither is to hand. It is an offering and a marker of the hour. It is never taken into the body.
Jojoba oil
A few drops, warmed between your palms. Jojoba because it is one of the gentlest carrier oils and sits well on most skin - but any oil you already use on your face will serve. Patch-test anything new on the inside of your wrist first.
A comfortable place to sit
A chair, the edge of the bed, a bathroom stool. Somewhere you can sit upright with both hands free.
Moon Phase & Timing
This is a nightly rite and takes its timing from the clock rather than the calendar.
After the last meal of the day: The named hour. It marks the day as over, which is most of what it is for.
Any night: Repeat it as often as it is useful. A rite done on fourteen ordinary nights does more than one done perfectly at the full moon.
Full Moon: A pleasant night to begin, if you want a start date to remember.
