The Pyrite and Bay Jar
Join the Coven to keep this in your own Book of Shadows
A dry money jar, built in layers and shaken rather than sweetened: bay for the wish, cinnamon for speed, five-finger grass for the five ways money arrives, and a piece of pyrite sitting on top of it all like a coin that never spends. Shake it every Thursday and leave it alone the rest of the week.
What You Will Need
A small jar with a tight lid
It gets shaken, so the lid matters more than the look. A spice jar is the right size - this working wants to be dense, not roomy.
Three to five dried bay leaves
One leaf per thing you are asking for, and no more than five. You write on these, so whole unbroken leaves are worth picking out.
Ground cinnamon
A teaspoon. Cinnamon is the accelerator in nearly every money working there is, which is why it is in so many kitchens of people who would not call themselves witches.
Five-finger grass (cinquefoil)
A pinch of the dried herb. Named for the hand: the five fingers are the five ways money comes to you - wages, gifts, what is owed, what is found, and what you make. A dried strawberry or raspberry leaf is the usual stand-in, both being of the same family.
A piece of pyrite
Fool's gold. A chunk the size of a thumbnail, or a few small pieces. Pyrite is in this working precisely because it is not gold: it is the look of money, and this jar's job is to make your situation look worth paying.
Nine coins of the smallest denomination you have
Pennies, cents, whatever is in the bottom of a bag. Small on purpose. A jar full of money you took out of circulation is a jar that teaches you to hold still.
A green or gold candle
For the building night only. A tea light in a saucer works.
Moon Phase & Timing
This is a drawing jar, so it is built as the light grows, and it is fed on Jupiter's day for as long as you keep it.
Waxing Moon: The build. Everything in the jar is an increase, and the moon should be doing the same thing on the night you seal it.
Thursday: Jupiter's day: expansion, luck, and the kind of money that arrives rather than the kind you chase. This is the day you shake the jar, every week, for as long as it stands.
Full Moon: Once a month, set the jar on a windowsill overnight instead of shaking it. A pause, and a top-up.
