Divination & Insight
The Ring of the Unblinking Eye
Join the Coven to keep this in your own Book of Shadows
A ring charged over the rune Isa, drawn in ash, with an address to Atë - the Greek spirit of ruinous folly and the delusion that comes before a fall. Worn, it is a standing promise to look closely before you act, and to be troubled by what does not add up.
What You Will Need
A ring you will wear
Plain is better than ornate. Something you can put on and forget, and then notice when you turn it with your thumb.
Wood or candle ash
A pinch from a fire, a censer or a burned-down candle. Ash is the drawing medium here because it is what is left after something has already happened.
A sheet of plain paper
For the rune. Pale, so the ash shows.
A black candle
Lit through the rite and snuffed at the end by hand rather than by breath.
Moon Phase & Timing
A working about discernment can be made at any time. The moon only shades what kind of seeing you are asking for.
Waning Moon: For seeing through something that is already in front of you - a story that does not hold up, a person whose account has changed.
Dark of the Moon: For the harder version: when you suspect you have been deceived for a long while and are not sure you want to know.
Waxing Moon: For a ring you want as a general habit of attention rather than for one particular matter.
