Manifestation & Sigils
The Sigil Jar
Join the Coven to keep this in your own Book of Shadows
Draw your sigil, fold it away in a jar, and burn a candle down on the lid. The other sigil workings release the symbol at once through fire, air or water - this one puts it somewhere dark and leaves it to work, so you can forget it on purpose and still have somewhere to look when you want proof you asked.
What You Will Need
Your personal sigil
Made on the Sigil Generator on this site, or by hand with the Witch's Wheel. Write your intention as a present-tense sentence first - the sigil is only as clear as the sentence underneath it.
A jar with a flat lid
Flat enough to stand a candle on. A jam jar, a honey jar, a wide-mouthed spice jar. Clear glass, so the folded paper is visible from outside.
A slip of paper
Small - a quarter of a page. You are folding it to fit a jar, and a smaller paper takes a cleaner fold.
A candle that will burn out in one sitting
A tea light or a small chime candle. The colour follows the asking: green for money, red for courage, blue for work, white for anything. It burns on the lid and must be in a holder or saucer.
A pinch of dried herb that matches the asking
Mint for money, rosemary for clarity, lavender for peace, basil for a household. One herb, one pinch. If you have none, a pinch of salt is not a substitute for the herb but it is a perfectly good substitute for having the herb.
Something small and heavy
A stone, a coin, a bolt, a ring you no longer wear. It sits on top of the folded paper and keeps it down. This is the weight of the thing being held rather than released.
Moon Phase & Timing
A sigil jar is a slow working, so it is started at the quiet end of the cycle and left alone through the growth.
New Moon: The best night. Nothing is visible in the sky and nothing is visible in the jar, which is exactly the state this working wants to be in.
Waxing Moon: Any night of the wax does fine. The closer to new, the longer the jar has to run before the next full moon looks in on it.
The night before something starts: An interview, a first day, a move. Timing a sigil jar to the eve of an actual event gives the working a date to aim at, which a sigil otherwise lacks.
