The Stone of Ascendance

Two halves worked in one sitting: a dark stone charged as a talisman of the authority you are claiming, and a bound token for the grip somebody else has kept on the place you want. You keep the stone. The bundle goes away in a drawer.
What You Will Need
A dark stone that fits your palm
Obsidian, hematite, a dark river pebble. This becomes the talisman you keep and carry, so pick one you will not mind holding in a pocket for months.
A black candle
Lit at the start, snuffed after a stretch of reflection at the end.
Something that stands for the other person
Their name on paper is enough. It is wrapped and put away, so nothing of value.
Dark cord or ribbon
A foot or so, to wind round the token. Three turns and one knot.
Moon Phase & Timing
This working has a rising half and a loosening half, so either direction of the moon gives you something.
Waxing Moon: Favours the stone: your own standing rising with the light. The usual choice.
Waning Moon: Favours the other half: a grip loosening as the light goes. Choose this if the holding-on is the real obstacle.
Thursday: Jupiter's day, which rules position, authority and advancement. A good day for the stone whichever way the moon is going.
