Thirteen Days Beneath the Cloth

Join the Coven to keep this in your own Book of Shadows
Thirteen dark pebbles around a name, a coin flipped once, a nail tapped against cracked glass, and the whole lot wrapped in black cloth and put somewhere overlooked. A working of small frustrations: nothing broken, nothing harmed, only a run of days where luck declines to help.
Level Intermediate
Time 45 minutes
Moon Waning Moon preferred; worked in a dim, quiet place
What You Will Need
Thirteen dark pebbles
Gathered, not bought. Thirteen exactly - counted twice. They are arranged around the name and then wrapped up with it.
A small nail
Used once, to tap the glass. Not driven into anything.
A square of black cloth
Big enough to hold everything and be tied shut. This is the 'beneath the cloth' of the title and the thing that is eventually put out of sight.
A cracked mirror or piece of cracked glass
A compact with a split in it, a broken frame, a fragment with its edges taped. Handle it carefully and tape the edges before you start if they are sharp.
A marker and a coin
The marker for the circle and the name on the cloth; the coin is flipped once and left in the bundle.
Moon Phase & Timing
A working of small reversals belongs to the declining half of the month.
Waning Moon: The usual time. Fortune ebbing with the light.
Dark of the Moon: Stronger, and worth saving for something that has gone on long enough to deserve thirteen days.
A dim, quiet room: More important than the phase. This working is fiddly and needs attention; it does not survive being done with the television on.
