Governor of Mars
Phaleg ruleth those things which are attributed to Mars, the Prince of peace. He that hath his character, he raiseth to great honours in warlike affaires.
The Arbatel was first printed in Latin at Basel in 1575, and its seventh aphorism names the seven Olympic Spirits who govern the world between them. The passage here is Robert Turner's English translation, printed in London in 1655. The long s of the original is set as a plain s; nothing else is changed.
